Richard Bernstein, a touch of glam

Born in New York, Richard Berstein developed his work during the incandescent 70s and 80s at the Chelsea Hotel, The Factory and Studio 54. A fetish artist and a great friend of Andy Warhol, he made over 120 covers for Interview magazine, portraits of artists whose chromatism and brightness became the trend in a period full of life.

Bernstein sought to show the most glamurous and ideal side of fame always based on a given reality but ending up generating impossible beauty clichés. At any rate, who wouldn’t like to be portrayed in such a way? It definitely is a self-esteem boost! Richard was found dead at 62 on the groundfloor of the Chelsea Hotel, a place he remained loyal to since the 60s.
